"OW,” Jake yelped, jerking his hand back. “Oh my god. I think I just saw God.”
The exclamation echoed louder than he intended, drawing a few confused glances from nearby students. Jake blinked at his hand, then at the desk, then at the ceiling like it might provide answers.
Bradley startled at first, head whipping toward him, but then, unexpectedly, he laughed. Not a scoff. Not a condescending huff. A real, genuine laugh. Full-bodied and surprised, like he hadn’t meant to let it slip.
Jake froze.
He stared at Bradley as though witnessing a rare animal in the wild. “You laugh,” he said slowly, eyes wide. “You actually laugh.”
Bradley immediately sobered, though a ghost of a smile still lingered on his face. “I laugh when people get electrocuted.”
“Good to know your love language is mild electrocution,” Jake said, rubbing his fingers dramatically.
Bradley raised an eyebrow, recovering his deadpan. “Only for you.”
