[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.
What the fuck?
“Sokka, I—”
Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.
“What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]

An injury leaves Sokka with amnesia. His last memory is of the failed invasion, of leaving his father behind in enemy territory on the Day of Black Sun. Of hopelessness. Rage.
But then he wakes up, and the war is over. Suddenly, he must come to terms with the fact that years have passed, and that he's somehow the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation. He is also supposedly friends with banished-Prince-turned-Fire-Lord Zuko, of all people. Close friends.

The first time he hears it is actually in that goddamned Honda Odyssey.
He's got Logan on his back, his blood is dripping into Logan's mouth, and the maniac grins, this ferocious, alight sort of smile, and right before Wade gets shot straight through the roof of the van, he swears that he can hear a low, steady rumble somewhere under all the wet sounds of blood-soaked breaths and angered growls.
Since people don't purr, he's actually pretty sure it's a rattling wheeze; a horrible wet asthmatic sound because Wade has a knife in his lung, but that doesn't mean he's not going to be an asshole about it.
"Aw, listen to that, is kitty purring?" Wade jeers, twisting his knife in Logan's chest. "Kitty's happy to get put in his place?"
(In which people from Logan's universe have some interesting traits.)

Summary
The first time seeing Crowley in four years, after becoming the Supreme Archangel of Heaven, Aziraphale is forced to witness the Metatron first torture, then triumphantly turn Crowley over to Satan, who turns up in-person to take possession of his wayward tempter. Satan has permanent plans for Crowley to make him forever Hell's. Those plans include payment for his betrayal of Hell, with Satan himself in his blackstone room - the space where Crowley has been only twice before, yet where his deepest nightmares, and longest screams reside.
Meanwhile, Aziraphale discovers an ever increasing pit of corruption in Heaven where nothing is as it seems - Archangels are missing that no one remembers even exist, and Heaven itself has been changed without anyone seeming to notice. All to cement the Metatron's control and achieve his vision. The Metatron didn't count on Crowley upending Hell in the process of surviving, or Aziraphale Clue-ing out everything he wasn't supposed to, while trying to get his demon back..... Oh well.... Too bad for him…
