"Killed him beforehand — What? Whyever for?" Wei Wuxian asked and the beta smiled at his dear friend.
"Because when they tried to make Jiang Wanyin kneel to them, he shattered the very ground beneath their feet."

“Your breath stinks,” Jiang Cheng eloquently croaked out.
And that was a lie, it smelled of mint and tea leaves--it was intoxicating, but he was prepared to die before admitting that out loud.
“And you are quite unpleasant to look at.” And yet, Lan Wangji made no move to push Jiang Cheng off of him.
Jiang Cheng scoffed, “Then stop looking at me.”
Whether it was intentional or not, Lan Wangji leaned in so that now their foreheads were touching. “You first.”
“Oh..?”
At the unexpected newcomer's voice, Jiang Cheng found himself being flung almost a meter away-- courtesy of Hanguang-jun and his freakish Lan strength --landing on his back with an irritated groan.

If they married, he would see that every morning…
Jiang Wanyin frowns at him, and Lan Wangji realizes he hasn’t answered. He blinks and bows low.
“Jiang-gongzi.”
Jiang Wanyin doesn’t make his acceptance a grand affair. He just nods and walks away. Lan Wangji watches his retreating back, wondering how he found himself suddenly engaged on this fine summer morning.
