"He thought of one time when the team at work had had a gruesome case going on for several days, and he’d been so tired that he had fallen asleep while standing by the vending machine. His head, and most of his body, was leaning against the machine. House had come by and seen him standing there, eyes closed, his breathing even and deep. He had carefully woken him up, patted him on the head, and gently lead him to an on-call room. Chase had almost fallen into bed, and House had sat down next to him and slowly caressed his back, like he was a toddler who needed soothing."

He tries to play it cool. Pretend that he’s not here because he misses Kevin. That showing up to your boss’s home to watch movies with his husband is a perfectly normal, well-adjusted thing to do.
The door opens and Jake holds up his copy of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, a semi-forced smile on his face as he uses his free hand to point at the cover. “I got mandolins, son!” is what he says as a greeting, and he kind of regrets it immediately, but it’s out there in the open, now. Like some sort of unconventional invitation.
