    Summary

In this world, the first words your soulmate speaks to you are tattooed on your skin from birth.

Wriothesley hears his on the day he stands - a ragged, scrawny teenager, his hands still feeling the sticky warmth of another’s blood - in the middle of a world he’d only ever seen in newspapers. And looking down on him was a divinity... dressed in elegant robes, with hair the color of moonlight on water.

In that moment, Wriothesley swore an oath to himself that he would not utter a single word in reply. After all, what right did he have to taint this divinity with his own filth?

    Summary

Alhaitham is living the life he has always wanted, but a creeping sense of loneliness takes over his mind. He adopts a cat, and schedules a vet appointment with his ex-best friend:

To his own surprise, the sides of his eyes prickled with the threat of tears, and he found himself unsure of what to do. He did not want to be seen in such vulnerability, but his apartment was as empty as it always was, and so, why the irrational urge to hold the crying back? “Crying is a natural mechanism for releasing stress-related hormones,” he had told Kaveh years before. “Why are you resisting? Cry. There is no rational reason why you should be embarrassed.”

How stupid he had been. Even with no audience, the thought of letting his sadness overflow from his head onto the physical realm seemed daunting, and he simultaneously tried to prevent the flow of tears while letting them happen. A broken, choked sound escaped his throat, and it took him a moment to realise it was his own sob. It sounded foreign to his ears, but they kept escaping his tightly shut lips, until he found himself too exhausted to fight the instinct.

    Summary

Every child of Sumeru, from Gandharva Ville to Port Ormos, knows that the Dragon nests in the high branches of the Great Tree. The children chant among their skipping games of Rukkadevata, who tamed the great beast before it brought its grief and calamity to wither all the great jungle, of Little Lord Kusanali, daughter of the great goddess, to whom the beast only listens. Their parents gossip about the vast trove of knowledge, hidden in the boughs of the tree, far beyond the reach of any mortal scholar, where only the bravest and wisest may tread and come out alive.

Some old stories tell of scholars sent up in sacrifice to appease the Dragon’s anger, for when he is moved to fury, only the Dendro Archon can calm him, and when he is moved to sorrow, all the rivers flood and the jungle dies for his loneliness.

    ---

A fairy-tale-esque story about a beauty, a beast, and of course, about love. No roses necessary.

Kaveh wakes up to find that Mehrak has turned into a human child.

A door creaked open. Kaveh let the spatula fall onto the floor with a clatter at the reminder that he had no idea how his roommate would react, and Alhaitham—

“Dad!” Mehrak exclaimed, dashing into the corridor.
