Pressure builds in his skull as he watches the fluid run, eyes following it’s movement with a hazy interest. His tongue plays languidly across his teeth and upper lip as he tilts his head to follow it’s path, tasting the sweat and flecks of blood already drying there, an idea taking form in the shadows of his mind. The dark pool beneath the two of them spreads, sinking into the grooves of the flooring, staining the grout and muddying the colour of the tile.
A young Theodore relishes the taste of the kill.

On release from juvenile detention, instead of settling back into the house where he’d grown up, Theodore had skipped town. He wasn’t yet raw enough to formulate the idea that would lead to the death of his father, and not desperate enough to sit in the rot that permeated that wretched home.
And so his adult life had begun; town by town crawling north through the state, working whatever job he could get his hands on that offered cash and asked few questions. This is how he came to be in a fairly populous town a few miles east of the Coosa River.
He had begun to itch beneath his skin, and he knew from experience that it was time to scratch.

Summary

A few years into his sentence, his captor walks through the gates of Fox River. Theodore's blood boils with rage, revenge and a confusing curiosity towards the former FBI-agent turned inmate, Alexander Mahone.
Alexander's past indiscretions catch up to him and he loses everything; his career and family, his freedom. And worst of all, he is sentenced to serve his time among some of the worst scum of the Earth imaginable. To add insult to injury, Alexander is set to suffer from nightmares, withdrawal and an unwanted, repulsive attraction towards one of the worst people he's ever come across.
