Summary
Before V and Jackie Welles spectacular failure at auto theft and their unlikely friendship, they happened to cross paths at El Coyote Cojo.
This story is all about the development of V and Jackie's relationship from the very beginning. I fill in a lot of gaps left open by the game. The story is full of angst, fluff and sexual and emotional tension.
The title "Hasta la Muerte" literally means "Until Death," but is also used like the English phrase "Ride or Die."
All characters are owned by CD Project Red, and I just love them and play within the world they've already made.

In the aftermath of her escape from the Legion, The Ghoul and Lucy are forced to camp in the dunes of the Mojave Desert overnight. The Ghoul grapples with his sense of self, until Lucy starts crying in her sleep.

Lucy wanted the Ghoul to say yes with an intensity she didn’t recognize.

“You need rest.”
Lucy doesn’t quite understand the panic that settles deep in her gut. “You won’t leave me, right?”
The Ghoul tilts his head, his face remaining unreadable as ever. “Golden rule, Sweetheart. ‘Sides, where would I go?”
She almost laughs. Instead, she simply shrugs her shoulders. “I’ll make this up to you.”
“How d’ya reckon you’ll do that?”
The only idea she has in mind is probably selfish. Just because she’s been craving it doesn’t mean he has the same desires. Heck, she doubts he thinks of her that same way. “I haven’t figured that out yet, but I will,” she says. “One way or another.”

AKA, after rescuing lucy from the legion and another attack afterwards, she wants to somehow make it up to the ghoul...she has one particular idea in mind but doesn't believe he'd ever go for it...until, that is, he's the one to suggest it and with actions rather than words

Never in a million godforsaken years could he have guessed those would be the words to come out of Lucy MacLean’s mouth. "Beg yer pardon? Now ain’t the time to be thinkin’ ‘bout sex, Vaultie.”
“I’m not thinking about sex. I’m thinking that we could maybe…use your semen to mask my scent. Either that or your blood, right? And I know it takes a lot to make you bleed, so unless you want me to bite off another one of your fingers…” She shrugs her shoulders. “I mean, it’s like you said: They can smell me.” Huh. It could work. Hell, it may even be their only option. “Plus, again, this is my fault, so—”

AKA, lucy and cooper get trapped in a room surrounded by ferals and with no weapons or ammo so lucy makes a rather surprising suggestion to get them out alive...then cooper makes it up to her later
