Summary
The cold is a therapy tactic. The sudden release of norepinephrine has his bones settling back into his body almost immediately, has him looking out across the city line with a bit of wonder. Everything is blanketed in it, and for a moment, Robby's at peace.
That doesn't last as long as he'd like, and with the weather comes his undeniable loneliness. He finds comfort in his oldest friend, and maybe more along the way.

Summary
Jack closes his locker and turns to lean against it, watching Dr. Robby as Greg’s protests disappear into the background. His posture is easy and relaxed, even as he’s aware of the risk he’s taking. But his resident year only has a few months left on it and if he fucks this up too bad, he can hit the road. “You know, Robby, we were gonna head over to a bar on Liberty Avenue, it’s not too far. You should come with us.”
Robby clears his throat and any sign of a flush has disappeared when he meets Jack’s eyes. “Thank you for the invitation, but I don’t make a habit of getting drunk with my residents.”
So… not “no” to Liberty Avenue. Not “no” to what would be obviously a gay bar. Not “no” to Jack, not really. No to a resident.
(jack and robby and fourteen years of almost getting it right. A companion piece to if our love died young, i can't bear witness .)

A figure down by central fifteen catches his attention, the sight causing an immediate visceral reaction. His heart rate spikes, and his hand clenches at his side.
"What the fuck is he doing here?"
Dana follows Robby's gaze across the open plan area to where Jack Abbot is talking to Collins.
Dana lets out an exhausted sigh.
Robby fucking hates the man.
Luckily, the sentiment is returned, and Jack Abbot can't stand him either.
