Summary
A plea formed on the tip of her tongue.
Stay.
Kiriko bit her lip, trying to muster the nerve to ask as Illari looked for her shorts around Kiriko’s disheveled room.
Stay.
That wasn’t part of their arrangement though. Illari never stayed.

Summary
Illari couldn’t fight it if she tried. Her weakness was Kiriko Kamori, and Kiriko was everywhere here. The scent on the pillow where she rested her head, the photos crowding the wall she faced, the arm slung around her waist, the body pressed against her back.

Summary
She swiveled her head, continuing to stir the stew as she observed who entered.
Kiriko Kamori walked in, training clothes on, sweat making her bangs cling to her forehead, a wide grin on her lips.
“Hey Illari,” she greeted, stopping suddenly a few paces away. “I uh,” she rested a gloved hand on the back of her neck sheepishly, “I was just passing through to find something to eat and I smelled something incredible!”
Or
Illari has troubles with anniversaries, with subtle reminders, with the ghosts of traditions that only lived through her memory now. Kiriko manages to ease that burden without even really trying.

Summary
Hana Song has her defense mechanisms. They work for her, and she's not going to change just because some people think she's childish. Even if it means denying herself the chance to form meaningful relationships on her new posting. Even if it means spending most of her time alone.
Sometimes, though, change catches you with your guard down.

Summary
Kiriko does not shy away from the things she wants, but she does act coy, and obvious, and difficult, and any other adjective that best describes this stupid dance she's started with Illari.

Summary
Illari’s eyes were bright. Not soft bright, but the kind of bright you saw in a flare when it's first ignited. There were shadows under them; bruises that battered the beauty away by the hands of sleepless nights. Her face was young, yes, but the tension in her jaw made her look older. As presumed, her hands were balled into fists with scars that didn’t belong to someone who’d lived an easy life.
A faint shimmer clung to her skin, like leftover heat traveling along lines etched into her dark skin.
“Who hired you?” Illari asked.
