Summary
It happens in the middle of the night which is not fair. It’s in that period of darkness where the chair looks like a person and Mondale, released from his crate, seems like the only thing she can cling to in her confusion.

Summary
He’s hoping it will happen naturally. Like a cat crawling off to hide under the porch. As angry as he is with Shiv and Rome he doesn’t want them to feel guilty about it, to think they killed him because it’s not true. Sometimes he thinks he’s never been alive at all. Just a thing propped up by his father and told how to walk and talk and constantly failing those slim expectations.
Despite his best efforts, Kendall lives.

Summary
“You look beautiful,” Rava says to Shiv’s alarm. Shiv watches as her skin goes red in the mirror and she wants to rip herself away from Rava, if Rava thinks she needs someone to coddle her or something. Maybe Kendall needs that but Shiv doesn’t.
Rava takes Shiv prom dress shopping.

Summary
He’s doing better now. So much better that it’s almost laughable where he was before, hanging by a thread, at the bottom of the bottle, whatever analogy you want to use to describe the situation of being completely and totally fucked. But for now he is alone, but he always is, the pendulum swings back and forth, nothing stays, he’s doing just fine.

Like, a lot longer.-Or-
Family cycles, cycle.

Pregnant.
He got his girlfriend pregnant.
“Fuck,” Chris agrees, a sick feeling settling in his stomach. They were so careful.
Well, as careful as two 20-year-olds can be.
And damn. He’s 20.Made it one more year than his parents, at least.

Summary
“Where’s Christopher?” The question ripped out of him before he could think. “Is he okay? Did I – did I lose him?”
Buck’s face fell. “Chris is fine. He’s in Texas, remember? With your parents.”
Texas. Eddie’s mind snagged on that. It didn’t feel right. Not at all. “No,” he muttered, shaking his head despite the rip of pain it caused. “No, that’s- that’s not right. We came here from Texas years ago. He came with me. We’re here now. He’s here.” He tried to sit up, but the effort sent his body crashing back against the pillow.
“Eddie, stop.” Buck’s voice turned firm, but not angry. Just scared. “Chris isn’t here, but he is okay. He’s not lost. You’re here with me. Chris is in Texas. He’s safe, I swear.”

The fallout from a major head injury blurs the lines between Eddie’s past and present, forcing him and Buck to confront an uncertain future together.

Summary
"What if I never get better? What if I always feel like this?"
Buck finally looks back up at him, vulnerability and compassion clear on his too-expressive face.
"I don't know," he says honestly. "I don't…" he shudders, gives a tiny shrug of his shoulders and tries again. "I don't have an answer for that, man. It's been seven months for me and I still feel…like this."
"Like what?"
Buck just shrugs again, then mumbles, "Not myself."
And Eddie doesn't know what to say to that either, because this is the only version of Buck he's ever known.
Or: Buck and Eddie meet at grief group.

Summary
When he sits back down at the head of the table, he kisses Gregory on the cheek. “Do you want to make a wish too?”
Gregory gurgles, entranced by the flames of the eighteen candles, tears still drying on his reddened cheeks. Gregory rarely cries—a trait that does not run in the family, something the older four make a point to remind Eloise and Francesca—but when he does, he seems to pick the worst moments.
Anthony wraps one hand around Gregory’s tiny fists as a safety precaution, and he reaches across the table, tugging the cake closer to them. He mimes it once before he starts blowing out the candles. Gregory copies him with a joyous coo.
And, mid-laugh after Gregory manages to take out precisely one of the candles, Anthony realizes he does need to make a wish, and he has nothing he wants to wish for. So, he wishes for more of the same.

Summary
Eddie listens to the voicemail later. Buck sounds like he’s at a grocery store, absentmindedly talking into the phone. “Oh, I guess you’re with your sisters. Sorry to miss you. I just wanted to tell you about this call we had last night, but I gotta hear your reactions, so, later. Okay, uh, I guess I’ll just call back. Or text.”
It ends abruptly, without a goodbye. Eddie replays it a second time, closes his eyes as he sits in the truck. For a moment, he can pretend Buck is sitting in the passenger seat next to him. For a moment, Eddie is back in Los Angeles and his best friend is dragging him through the grocery store.
The voicemail ends, Eddie opens his eyes, and the fantasy breaks. Eddie is still in El Paso, parked in front of the house he’s renting, and there’s no one in the passenger seat with him.
Eddie moves to Texas. Buck moves into his house. There's a love story somewhere in here.
