Hotch held his stare, steady and cold. “You thought you had trouble when it was just Hendrickson. You’ve got an entire unit now, Dean.”

Dean doesn't ever get to decide again that someone has to live, no matter how peaceful the end that awaits them, no matter how painful and useless their life is, no matter how high the price of keeping them alive, no matter how ready they are to end it all. Dean doesn't get to demand that they keep living just because he can't stand losing them. And he doesn't get to go off and fucking die himself anyway and leave them alone. Dean doesn't get to do that again.

Dean didn't get paid nearly enough for the job he did. Purchasing Lucifer's Prom Dress with the money he had set aside for his missing brother and then traveling across the country with the Boy with the Demon Blood riding shotgun had to be worth more than credit card fraud could provide.
Sam didn't get paid enough, either, but he wasn't as picky as Dean. He just wanted a family and a place to call home. Maybe a break from the constant state of terror he lived in. He knew he had no right to want that; he was a stupid, disobedient, useless freak of nature who disappointed every owner he ever had, but... maybe just one thing? Just an older brother to get in between him and his nightmares; one who might, if Sam was a very good boy, call him Sammy and give him hugs. That would be nice.
Yeah, that would be more than enough for Sam.
