Summary
When Itachi sees Shisui die all his genius leaves him and the only thing he can do is cling to the last person he has left. With the massacre imminent, Itachi steals Sasuke and runs away from Konoha, leaving his clan to die and positioning himself as the parental figure in Sasuke's life - something he comes to realize is much more challenging and brutal than he expected.
(Or: Itachi learns he doesn't know everything, gains a new appreciation for his parents, reflects on his worldview, and tries to keep the walking timebomb that is Uchiha Sasuke alive.)

Summary
He hated them.
But he understood them, knew that Konoha could weather all loss of life, its very foundation built on the corpses of dead children. No, what Konoha couldn’t weather was losing the moral victory, of losing the high ground on which they justify all their atrocities.
So; Sasuke would take that.
Sasuke finally gets to burn Konoha to the fucking ground.

Summary
Sasuke refuses to cooperate with the Akatsuki in the aftermath of Itachi's death, wishing to remain loyal in his brother's memory, and rather than kill him, Madara tries to send him into Kumui. Clearly something went wrong along the way, because next thing Sasuke knows, he's waking up the day after the Uchiha Massacre in his seven-year-old body with no way back.
