He blames it on himself, for letting his guard down and being so comfortable that he doesn't recognize her oncoming action when she walks up to him at the door.
He doesn't anticipate - calculate - her leaning in to plant a soft kiss on his left cheek. It's so quick that he barely processes the action, but when he does, his stomach does a weird flip and suddenly his cheek feels heavy with weight.

The sticky substance drips, spreading and spreading, endlessly spilling before anyone can stop it. It seeps into the cracks, fills spaces you didn’t even know were vulnerable, leaving its mark everywhere it touches.
Or, a love that overflows—the hands that tug a little bit closer in a hug, hearts spilling together into the same sink, and the sticky, uncontainable sweetness of something too big to keep inside.

Nightmares seemed to be a common occurrence within the Forger residence. If it weren’t his own nightmares jolting him from his sleep, he could sometimes hear a muffled cry coming from Yor or Anya’s room. Anya would normally wake one of them up if it was too scary for her, but he never helped Yor through hers— It always felt like a step too far, something he would be unable to take back, something that could change them forever.
Or, Yor and Loid help each other sleep.
