"Buck?" Maddie's voice was gentle but worried. "How are you feeling? I can send the nurse in."
"What happened?" he mumbled, groggy.
"Well," Maddie said with forced lightness, trying to keep things casual, "as far as we can tell, you were mopping the station floor for about the seventh time when you slipped and fell. But don't worry - you and Baby Kinard are both just fine."
