“Flunked?” Shane asked, voice pitching up as the words salted over the open wound, the infected gutting from the top of his throat down to his stomach.
“You should have rectified and make your position clear about Scott Hunter. We don’t want you to sound like you’re antagonizing him,” Yuna added, matter-of-factly, her eyes narrowing on the knot of his tie, adjusting it like it still mattered.Shane’s body shook violently against his will, dislodging from under her touch. Yuna looked up, surprised by his reaction.

The man looked at it, then at him, and finally shook it. “Ilya,” he said.

Shane tilted his head. “No. Should I?”Shane Hollander usually walks with his gaze down, but one evening, as he crosses the bridge on his way home from work, he notices a man with piercing blue eyes and, for reasons he can’t quite explain, finds himself unable to look away.
Ilya Rozanov has just been traded to the Ottawa Centaurs. One evening, on a bridge overlooking the Ottawa River, he just want to disappear, until a young man with freckles reaches out a hand to him.

Wouldn’t it be heartbreaking if, after Ilya casually suggests Shane could sleep with other people when they’re apart, Shane takes it completely the wrong way? He becomes deeply insecure, convincing himself it means he isn’t performing well enough in the bedroom. Desperate to fix it, he starts googling ways to be better in bed, trying things he never would have considered before, all in a frantic attempt to keep Ilya satisfied.
Or: After Ilya tells Shane he could sleep with other people, Shane tries to change himself so that Ilya wouldn’t want to look elsewhere.

"Hey, baby, look at me," Ilya tries. He grabs Shane's face and wipes the sweaty hair from his forehead. "Shane, please? Are you okay? What's your colour?"
Shane's eyes drift towards Ilya slowly, until their gazes lock. Ilya stares into the depths of his eyes, searching for anything that shows that Shane is still in there somewhere, and that is when Shane snaps back into reality like he has been struck by lightning. His eyes widen as he sucks in a big sharp breath and starts pulling away, away, and away. Away from Ilya. He starts feverishly tugging at the restraints that are still holding his wrists firmly in place on the headboard. And now, he is no longer silent.
Instead, Shane sobs.

While the whole "tying Shane up" thing sounds fun at first, it is not so fun anymore when Shane has a panic attack when trying it.
