A woman she doesn’t remember refuses to leave her side. A man with a machete watches the door like the world might break in at any moment. And outside, the world has broken: a “happiness virus” has bound most of humanity into a serene, unified hive mind that wants nothing more than to make everyone join it.
Zosia was part of that hive. She was happy. Peaceful. Safe.
Now she is the first person ever cured, and the collective mourns her like a limb that’s been severed.

"Well, Elphie, you know what they say," Galinda declared, already rising and snatching both of their school things like an irritated pack mule. "There's no time like the present. And would you look at that, it's presently the present, so let's go, shall we?"
A jealous Galinda is tired of Fiyero flirting with her official-unofficial girlfriend, the perfectly good and perfectly hers Elphaba Thropp. Emboldened by a very healthy dose of possession, Galinda wastes no time in reminding her Elphie to whom she belongs.

In spite of understanding how busy Ava now is, she starts doubting they are on the same page and she may unwillingly and by accident be hurting the members of her crew, so she tries to talk to her to find out how she feels.
