Summary
Jason Todd was born and raised in Crime Alley, the birthplace and homeground of some of Gotham's worst, and brought up as a mercenary. Hood is a terrifyingly competent killer-for-hire with the reputation to match. Jason has plans to change his life, however, to make enough money to retire early and leave the mercenary life behind permanently and he'll let nothing get in the way of that. One chance meeting with an injured Red Robin, a fleeting moment of confused compassion, and Jason's well-thought-out plans are sent into disarray.

Summary

The fury that fills his veins is immediate, viscous. Soap has to unclench his jaw with active effort, "He's 1-4-1 now, he's mine."
Shepherd stays silent for a moment, long enough that Soap knows he's given too much away. It's alarming, how much he doesn't care about it. The voice on the phone comes eventually, slow and mocking, "We'll see about that."
Soap lets out an audible snarl, even as the line goes dead.
