Summary
From the moment Kageyama Tobio and Hinata Shoyou met, both of their lives were changed forever. From opponents, to rivals, to friends, to partners, their time together during their high school years made them feel inseparable. But when those three years come to an end, and circumstances lead the two of them down their own separate paths on their quest to achieve their shared dream of playing volleyball on the world stage, they suddenly find themselves grappling with strange new feelings they struggle to reconcile with their previous perceptions of their relationship. From opponents, to rivals, to friends, to partners, to perhaps, something more, Tobio and Shoyou chase each other back and forth through the early years of their volleyball careers, searching for some sort of balance between what they think they need, and what they truly want.

Summary
Qifrey tries to catalogue all of the places they touch, reminding himself that the contact is no longer dangerous. Olly’s nose is slotted against his temple, fingers having moved from between his shoulders to the base of his head. There’s a slight tickle where the hair on his chin brushes against Qifrey’s cheek. The other arm is wrapped loosely around his middle, squeezing against his tunic. Their legs aren’t exactly tangled, but he can feel Olruggio’s calf against his own, a bony knee against his thigh, and the press of something warm and firm against his hip. His own body is an unfortunate mirror, the hour still early and the closeness still unfamiliar.

Summary
How many times had Qifrey turned away Olruggio’s concern? How many times had he lied to keep the promise they’d made? How many times had Qifrey had to look Olruggio in the eyes and deny his bleeding heart, to pretend like he didn’t want his Watchful Eye more than he wanted air, just to stay safe?
It kept him alive. Far more importantly, it kept his promise to his radiant star. Qifrey had to keep telling himself that. It was the only way he could endure the ordeal of being fussed over, of being discovered and forgotten in cycles, of being loved by a man he’d taken everything from. The only way he could stand to dig his fingernails into his palm and pretend Olruggio’s self-sacrificing obsession was a one-sided ordeal.
But what happened when that constant, crawling feeling of roots and gnarls in Qifrey’s skin no longer forced him to be patient?

Summary
Qifrey’s sharp whimper cuts through the silence, yanking Olruggio from his unpleasant train of thoughts. His hand stilled abruptly, the cloth pulling back. “Did I hurt ya, love?” he asked, concern bleeding through before he could mask it.
“No,” Qifrey answered sheepishly, “Not at all.”
Olruggio raised a brow at the faint color arising on Qifrey’s nape. The silence hung heavy, as thick as the steam curling around them in tendrils, quietly beckoning an explanation. Slowly, Qifrey drew his knees toward his chest, making himself smaller in a way that didn’t suit him in the slightest.
“It’s just… been a while since…” you’ve touched me, is what he wanted to say, but the words got caught uselessly in his throat. Qifrey didn’t get to finish his sentence, but he didn’t need to.
Or, when Olruggio offers to bathe his husband, things get heated in more ways than one.
