Her son’s soulmark, the one held closest to his heart, had a soft, golden glow peeking out from underneath the medical bandages. The glow seemed to become brighter, though not overpowering. Soft, comforting light. It reminded her of the sun, in a way.
As her eyes adjusted, she found she couldn’t have been more right.
Over her son’s heart spells the name Apollo, in gold cursive. The font shimmered, almost glittering as her son shifted on the bed. Every stroke of every letter seems purposeful, carefully branding her son. Out from behind the name is the image of a sun. A lyre is also depicted, and if Sally pays close enough attention, the strings seem to move slightly, as though someone is playing it.

"You've been lying to me, for years, Xiao Zhuo. Why didn't you tell me?" Zhao Yuanzhou says with a slight tremble in his voice. Tears are falling, yet Zhao Yuanzhou keeps trying to hold himself together.
"Because I couldn't bear to see you turn into the monster you hated." Zhuo Yichen says carefully, "Our son being taken away from us killed something in you and I never managed to get it back."
"That monster resurfaced the moment we couldn't feel his heartbeat anymore." A broken smiles crosses Zhao Yuanzhou's face as he scoffs, "I truly think it's too late, Xiao Zhuo."
"So you'll destroy what he has managed to build for his life?"
"No. I'll destroy the root cause of it all." For the first time in thousands of years, the blank stare Zhuo Yichen thought was gone from the last blood moon now stares him in the face again. This time though, Zhao Yuanzhou is in full control.

Hope is also in a form that all creatures yearn for; freedom. It isn't a simple desire but a definite need for it. Caging a creature for too long will result in a deeper longing for freedom and Zhu Yan understood the feeling more than anyone.
