Summary
After Clint Barton died saving the world, Kate Bishop lost her childhood hero and the ideal that a normal person could truly be a hero, so she focused instead on her family, and wound up neck deep in the inner city crime syndicate run by Wilson Fisk.
It started as a way to protect her mom, who lost herself in that life after her husband was killed in the Battle of New York. All Kate wanted was to get them out, but they're so entangled in Fisk's web it seems impossible now.
