When Hawks saw the king, he started with surprise. He hadn't expected the king the first time and sure as hell didn't expect him the second. The attendant glared and Hawks rose to his feet in one smooth movement, doing his best to erase his surprise. It was a decent effort.
Enji's intense blue eyes lingered on Hawks before he spoke with the attendant just out of earshot. Hawks tried to eavesdrop, but luckily the conversation was brief.
The attendant looked shaken. Had something happened?
"You're going with the king," the attendant said.
Hawks just blinked.
"What for?"
"As his tribute."
