“Miss Granger” He drawled with his usual aristocratic air.
“Malfoy…” Her voice was tired, but she was always tired these days.
It was why she was on the pier. Only halfway to drunk with a bottle of brandy in her hand.
“Done running yet?” He all but purred as he entered her peripheral vision.
He had stepped up beside her and she could feel her practically sentient curls reach for him which were concealed under her cloak.
“Not running, escaping.” She muttered into the mouth of the bottle before taking a mouthful. The burn of the liquor felt like penance.
“From?” He inquired before turning to face her, his gloved hand coming into her line of sight as he reached for the bottle.
“Existence?” Her voice hitched slightly as she tilted her head, before handing him the bottle.
“Gods you sound like Severus before the Dark Lord came back, Pet.” His voice wrapped around her like silk, and she felt a shiver run up her spine.
“Well maybe pre-second war Snape had a point.” She muttered darkly staring off into the dark waves.

Four years after the war, Hermione Granger returns to Hogwarts to teach Alchemy, a newly introduced subject in the curriculum. Adjusting to life in a post-war world proves challenging, but the warm welcome from her colleagues offers a sense of comfort. All except one. Severus Snape believes Alchemy should fall under the expertise of the Potions Master and is far from pleased to see Hermione back.
Through music, Hermione begins to uncover aspects of Snape that have rarely been seen or understood.
It is a slow burn with plenty of angst and push and pull, with the eventual smut. HEA.
The story alternates between Hermione's and Snape's POV.
Each chapter is inspired by a song, which is revealed in the end notes.
