He decides to hit the follow button, to continue enjoying the uplifting messages, the tasty recipes, the even tastier host, and nearly drops his phone when a shriek comes through his speaker.
“Oh! Oh, it happened! Fifty thousand followers! Congratulations to… The Gentleman Pirate! You won!”

Edward Teach leads the world's best epidemic investigation team, but it's getting to be a bit of a grind - every case seems to be the same - and he's bored out of his skull. When Stede Bonnet, a staff scientist with the CDC, alerts the WHO to a possible disease outbreak in the United States, Ed's team is sent to look into it. As far as first impressions go, Ed thinks that Stede's an incompetent idiot, and Stede is convinced that Ed's an arrogant ass. They're in a race to figure out what the virus is, where it came from, and how to stop it - a task that's made more difficult when the hosts of a popular YouTube conspiracy theory channel claim that the virus was created in a lab and released on purpose.
But just because something is a conspiracy, that doesn't mean it isn't true.

Stede, still a little dumbfounded, grasped Ed’s hand in a weak shake. “Stede. Stede Bonnet. I’ll pay you back for the tea, I promise. I get paid next week.”

It’s Stede’s first time going to a haunted attraction. He picks the VIP option, a more extreme experience which allows actors to touch the patrons.
-- Edward Teach has been working as a haunt actor for many seasons. This year he’s been hired by an attraction where actors are permitted to touch guests to give them an extra scare.
