Summary
The movie opens with a bang—two characters already mid fight, shouting insults and threats towards each other. Sanemi doesn’t understand a second of it.
Genya, on the other hand, makes no effort to feign even a fleeting interest. Her finger traces little circles against his side, slowly dancing higher to his chest. Her nail presses against his skin, tracing the rough outline of his scars through the thin fabric of his shirt.
Sanemi suppresses a shiver, trying to stay focused on the ridiculous movie, but Genya is unrelenting. She tilts her head up, pressing a hot, slow kiss to his jaw. Sanemi’s breath shudders, his entire body tensing. He tries shooting her glare, but she just nips gently at his neck, her hand drifting to lower to slide beneath his shirt, palm splaying out against his stomach.

Summary
Genya’s face is a deep shade of crimson now, her eyes looking anywhere but Sanemi’s face. It would almost be adorable if it weren’t for the anxiety curling tight in Sanemi’s stomach.
“Can… Can I…” Genya trails off, her voice turning into an embarrassed squeak. There’s a long pause before she takes a slow breath and tries again. “Can I ask you something… personal?”
“Of course you can,” Sanemi answers immediately, thumb still stroking Genya’s cheek. “You can ask me anything.”
Genya swallows hard, hesitantly meeting Sanemi’s gaze. “Have you… Have you ever…” she cuts herself off, ducking forward and burying her face back into Sanemi’s chest. “Nevermind.”

“I’m sorry, sir… we had to give your table away,” the hostess explains as politely as possible, and to her credit she at least has the decency to sound sheepish.
“What?” Sanemi lacks that level of grace, his voice coming out more like a growl. “I called ahead and you all told me it would be fine as long as we arrived within thirty minutes of the reservation.”
“Yes, sir, that is our policy. But you arrived…” She checks the tablet again. “Thirty-five minutes late.”
“Are you fucking—”
“Nemi,” Genya cuts in, tugging his arm. Sanemi shoots him an irritated look, but it melts instantly under Genya’s pleading eyes. “It’s okay, we can go somewhere else.”

“What the hell are we doing?” Genya whisper-shouts once the door is shut, glancing nervously at the windows to the kid’s bedrooms to make sure no one has stirred.
“You said you were hot,” Sanemi answers simply, tossing the towels onto a chair. “So let’s cool off.”
He jerks his thumb towards the new above-ground pool he bought just two weeks ago. It’s relatively small as far as pools go, but the kids were over the moon when Sanemi came home and set it up for them.
“You’re kidding.”

“Hey, hey, hey.” Sanemi drops to his knees on instinct, arms opening wide. “C’mere baby.”
Genya bawls louder, his own arms opening in response. “I wan’ Nemi!”

Sanemi & Giyuu were never meant to fall in love, each of their souls bound to another and lost to tragedy. The expectations of a society where soulmarks are destiny were never enough to stop them from choosing each other anyway.
