    Nico exhaled. It seemed he was in the clear. Surely they would just leave – he prayed they would.

    To Nico’s dismay, the person spoke. “Hey, are you okay?” The voice was warm and sunny, and Nico could catch the slightest twinge of Southern. “Are you hurt?”

    Nico squinted his eyes shut, shaking his head like the person could see. He choked on a sob. “No.”

    The guy drummed his fingers against the sink. “Can I help you in any way?”

    “Still not hearing the part that leads to you having to come get me, Lace,” Nico presses.

    “Right, yes,” Lacy continues. “So he backed into one of our vanities, right. And it’s the Aphrodite cabin, so there are love potions and stuff lying around. And um. With them, you’re only supposed to use like, a drop or two? Because they make people confess true feelings, right? But uh, A vial fell from the top of the vanity when he backed into it, and it cracked and he uh, got hit in the head. With a full bottle of a love potion thing.”

    Will Solace has had a crush on the tattoo artist across the street for months.

    It’s fine. Really. Harmless. He bakes, he pines, he tries not to stare when Nico di Angelo shows up in black hoodies and eyeliner asking for espresso like he doesn’t know exactly what he’s doing.

    Then one of Nico’s clients passes out mid-session—and suddenly Nico needs sugar, fast. Will steps in with steady hands, first aid training, and a bakery full of emergency carbs.

    It could’ve ended there—but something sweet is beginning to take shape, slow and golden, like sugar dissolving into heat, like something worth waiting for.
