The gods of Olympus have always been selfish. Selfish in the sense of taking, taking, and more taking. It was in their nature to be selfish. As it is in their nature to be cruel, egotistical, and unflinching.
Mortals forget that every little destruction has been a will of the gods. For every tsunami, tornado, disease, has all just been a will of theirs- a whim of the moment.
The gods call it, ‘their divine will.’ Their recklessness dressed as an illusion of purposefulness. Thousands of lives swept away in a moment of Poseideon’s rage. Hundreds more, driven out of the sky by Zeus’s paranoia. To them- mortals are nothing but an altar that will never stop giving.
It is in their nature, to consume and feast.
