With soldiers enhanced far beyond even the most capable human, and technology straight out of science fiction novels, ADVENT and its alien backers are a formidable enemy indeed. To take on such a foe alone would surely spell the doom of the fractured remnants of XCOM.

Looks to the Moon was a fairly old iterator. Old enough to have personally known the first. While other, newer iterators idolized the distant figure of Sempiternal Tentation, Moon knew them well enough to be called a friend.

Villains don't have a monopoly on convoluted plans and xanatos gambits. Just one tiny decision results in one fate being changed. One child survives when they by all rights should have died.
This turns out to be quite fortuitous for the heroes, because this child can see the future, and as the dominoes begin to fall, he decides that he's going to ensure this story has a better ending for everyone.
