Summary
Dr. Kiramman steers her through the chaos and plants her in a chair. Does something to her arm that hurts like fuck, then drapes her in bags of ice and wraps her in a sling. Blinds her with a pen light—“Called it,” she mumbles when he confirms she’s concussed—and presses two pills and a warm mug into her hand. It smells herbaceous. Familiar.
“I brought the good stuff from home,” Dr. Kiramman confesses, and it takes her a moment to understand he means tea. “Extra honey for you. I know you haven’t acquired the taste.”
He’s right in that she only actually drank it once, the first time it was offered—the afternoon they spoke to the Council, several lifetimes ago. But she tasted it just this morning in Caitlyn’s mouth, grassy and sweet. So she pops the pills and takes a sip. Tries not to think about whether that terrified kiss over breakfast was their last. “I want to see her.”
After the war, Vi and Cait recover, and rebuild.

Shadowheart swats this aside. “Love, the grand delusion,” she scoffs. “Of course not.”
“You’ve never – held someone’s hand, and felt sparks fly?”
Shadowheart is about to deny it when she has a sudden remembrance of taking Florwyn’s hands earlier to remove the pain from her sorcery. The swooping sensation in her stomach returns in an uncomfortable crescendo at that very moment, sending heat tingling through her body. She takes a deep breath, trying to empty herself of emotion.
“No,” she says blandly. I must not get attached ...

This story starts pre-game and soon finds Tav and romance. Shadowheart gradually learns about love, and to love, over the course of the story. We are aiming for peak healing. FINISHED.Series
