Summary
When Eddie comes back he comes back different. He comes back wrong. Fingernails too long, teeth too sharp, heart completely still under cold, pale skin.
What little Eddie can tell them about his time between bleeding out in the Upside Down and coming back as a giant undead-bat-thing leads the kids to what they see as an all too obvious conclusion: Eddie is Kas the Betrayer. Or at least a rough approximation of him that kinda fits into the mess of existing DnD comparisons that they have going on.
OR
Eddie is not having a good time readjusting to being alive again and Steve is here to try and lighten the load.

She’s not sure how long they’ve been walking but the sun was high in the clear sky when the boat had docked and now it was steadily sinking over the horizon, turning the sky a fiery orange. Her legs and feet ache more and more with every step. She doesn’t realise the guard has stopped walking and she barrels right into him. When she looks up from her wrist, she sees why.
A clearing in the forest, a clearing that gives way to a village.OR

Summary
The words buzzed around pleasantly in his brain as his eyes fluttered, his consciousness slipping.
“Lucas? Hey, Lucas, do not close your eyes!” Ashen said quickly, grabbing his face with bloodstained hands.
All he could think was that he was sorry, before the lull of darkness became too much to ignore.
Lucas came to slowly, his body aching in places he didn’t know could ache. His ribs throbbed with each breath, and his mouth tasted like blood and something vaguely metallic—healing potion, maybe. Everything was still hazy, and for a minute he couldn’t quite remember where he was or why his side felt like it had been split open — or even falling asleep at all.
Then he saw the bandages, and the memory hit like a second impact.
