    “Do you want to do a puzzle?” Branch blurted.

    “Huh?” Floyd peered up at him, his previous self-deprecating thoughts fading into the background of his mind.

    Branch set his coffee down to wring his hands together. “When Grandma was still around,” Branch trailed off for a moment before seemingly steeling himself with a deep breath, “Every afternoon we would pour out a new box and we wouldn’t leave until the last piece of the puzzle was placed.”

    Floyd nodded. He hadn’t known Grandma Rosipuff had enjoyed puzzles so much.

    “It helped me. I’m not sure if it’ll help you the way it helped me, but, I don’t know.” Branch shrugged. “I just thought I’d offer.”

    Floyd felt his lips twitch into a wobbly smile. “I think I’d like that, Branch.”
