"Ohh, what do we have here?" His voice was like gravel scraping glass. "The great healer’s runt. You've got your Inko’s eyes, boy. No wonder she disappeared from Caelumbra—hiding something precious." He grinned, revealing jagged yellow teeth. "Quite noble, wasn't she?"
"W-who are you?" Izuku's voice cracked. "How do you know my mom?"
The masked man stepped closer.
Izuku's legs trembled. His chest heaved. Every instinct screamed at him to run.
The man raised his other hand, claws gleaming, poised to strike—
BOOM!
A fiery explosion slammed into the masked man, sending him flying backward and releasing Izuku, who collapsed to the ground, coughing violently.
"Hey, dipshit," a harsh, gravelly voice barked from the shadows. "You picked the wrong night to piss me off."

Kicking his legs to try and free himself he cried out when the nails dug deeper into his flesh, blood bubbling up beneath their tips.
“Shut the fuck up.” The beast growled, his deep voice sending shivers up Izuku's spine as he froze. “ Do you ever stop talking?” It spat, the mask coming down only an inch away from his own face.

It had been four months since the crystals fell to Earth in an abnormal sort of colorful meteor shower. There weren't many people left, the strange infection taking place worldwide, but the people Dad had managed to contact knew enough to get by. As far as anyone could tell right now, the crystals came with strange parasites, able to infect anyone who had the genes to have a quirk. 90% of the global population had been left to a fate worse than death, left alive as hosts for the Neon Beasts, predatory creatures made of vividly lit crystals. As far as anyone could tell, they served as mere flesh puppets for the things, unable to use their host's quirk, but that didn't make them any less dangerous. Dad had had his fair share of fights with them, some close enough that there was a crater in the ground near the mall's movie theater where he'd taken out a horde of the things with Prominence Burn. As far as they could tell, they might very well be the only survivors in the area.
