Despite bad press and criticism he used to get, Gen did study psychology both privately and through the Bachelor's program. The beam caught him before he could get any written proof of the fact. It was enough general knowledge for him to know or assume how that could affect a person. He also knew that he was severely underqualified for this situation, but then, again, who wasn’t?
No frame of reference or prior experience, no statistics or research - Suika was lonely in her grief, and it only made his heartache worse.

There is a need to address the hell Suika had to go through, but Gen isn't sure he is ready to do it.

Gen pressed his lips into a thin line, hoping Hyoga had enough brain power to see through his words. He couldn’t see his face, but the expressiveness of his eyes compensated for it. He was studying Gen, quietly, thinking that he would be able to find anything in his body language that he could latch on and attack.
It was a delightful display of delusion, truly.

Fiddleford knew Ford was a stubborn, annoying wreck when he was obsessed with something. He should have pushed harder and fought stronger and, maybe, if their fight never happened, he would have.
Then there was Stanley. Stanley was rowdy, rude and frank, but he was also caring and fun. He took the difficult task of saving his brother with the rare kind of stupidity that was honestly endearing in a way.
He was ready to go through things the hard way, and McGucket was there to bear witness to it.

Stanley meets McGucket after the portal incident and they work together, live together and become part-time nannies for a duo of local kids.
They also make out in the process to keep up the good morale.

“What?” Zanka’s voice cracks on the question, an alarming expression morphs his face, “Please, repeat that?”
“Jabber is joining The Cleaners starting today,” Corvus repeats with all the seriousness in the world, not a hint of humor nor sarcasm is shown, “He’s going under the vigilance and tutelage of Team Akuta.”
Jabber joins the cleaners for reasons Zanka doesn't really want to know.

”Whatcha got there?” Enjin asks, a small smirk tugging at his lips. Zanka gives one long, slow blink, and glances at the drink his fingers are loosely wrapped around.
“…a smoothie.”
Riyo bursts out laughing. The noise startles Jabber awake, and his head knocks into his jaw. They both groan in pain.
