Glorfindel looked at the words, beautifully painted out in his best calligraphy. They adorned the top of a very fine piece of paper which had a sandy tint. It had reminded him of the colour of one of the fountains that Ecthelion had lined with that sandstone.
Glorfindel is writing a long overdue letter to Ecthelion.
