Summary

Harry starts his first year at Hogwarts, determined to make friends and to prove himself, so the hat puts him in the house where that’s most likely to happen: Slytherin.
It’s not mentioned in the story because it starts directly with the Sorting, but Harry never met Draco before the Welcoming Feast, so he didn’t automatically hate Slytherin just because of those encounters.
To ensure they wouldn’t kill each other in the first two weeks of school, they needed a buffer, so I invented a new character and named him Merlin just to mess with people (he’s not actually Merlin, of course).

When Harry Potter ported his way back into Hogwarts Grounds, escaping by a fraction from the graveyard where Voldemort had made his way back to the living, something in him snapped. Little did he know that another individual standing in the stands was feeling the same way upon staring at the corpse of Cedric Diggory Harry was holding onto with all his might. As Draco Malfoy's blood chilled from the desperate wailing of The-Boy-Who-Lived, he, also, began to question every principled lesson taught to him by his father.
When particular events of one scorching summer unfold, Harry and Draco find themselves entrapped in the same environment to spend the rest of summer beneath the roof of Spinner's End, under the watchful eye of Severus Snape while neither anticipating that this is the least portion of their worry. While the two fifteen-year-olds timidly spend the rest of their summer holidays together, waiting for the fifth year in Hogwarts to commence as soon as possible (hopefully with lesser drama than the previous year), something begins to brew in the dark. The fifth year is not going to be smooth sailing after all...
