Summary
Every generation of shinobi has its monsters. Those individuals others come to fear for their skill, their unique talents, and their clear efficacy at doing one thing, killing others.
None of these qualities though are inherent. While good genetics can certainly help, what shapes the world's monsters is their environment. The circumstances of their birth, the family that surround them, the friends they make and the difficulties they face.
There is a reason after all, why Konohagakure creates so very little monsters in comparison to the blood-soaked nation of Kiri or the harsh desert sands of Suna. But even the forests of Konoha can occasionally cast dark enough shadows, within which a ruthless monster might be birthed. It has done so before and now it promises too again.
On the 23rd of September, Inoichi and Noriko Yamanaka greet their two baby girls, Ino and Ume, as they are born into the world.
