    The first time Lando Norris hears the name Oscar Piastri, it is the end of his second season in Formula One. A passing comment from one of his engineers.

    A couple of years pass before Lando is reminded of the driver again. He has found his way into the paddock; if not the grid itself. He hears nothing about the reserve driver until the summer break. From one day to the next, the Australian rockets from obscurity to infamy. A single tweet puts the name Oscar Piastri on everyone’s lips.

    Lando should have guessed. The signs were there, glaringly obvious once he puts the clues together.

    Oscar Piastri is his teammate for 2023.

    “Am I really that boring?” The question floats in the air. A mixture of genuine concern and cheekiness.

    Lando wants to tell Oscar he’s never boring. He wants to say he’s one of the most interesting and intriguing people he has ever met. He wants to hear all of Oscar’s stories and thoughts. Instead he settles with a coward: “That's what makes you special.” Because teasing and joking are his coping mechanisms when his feelings get in the way. Something about trying to not be too vulnerable in front of people.

     

    Or the one in which Lando can't sleep at night and finds Oscar has the key to solve his problem.

    Or, Oscar is Lando's new race engineer for the 2024 season, and they stumble into a coworkers with benefits situation. And then things just keep getting more and more complicated-- but hey, the season is going pretty well!
