    When Clark Kent is brainwashed by a new strain of kryptonite, he believes that Bruce Wayne is his dearly devoted husband. As any evidence of the contrary could kill him, Bruce needs to play along, and ends up opening Pandora's Box.

    Now they are taking the leap for real, but it's hardly smooth sailing. Between supervillain plots, revenge, and parent-teacher conferences, the World's Finest heroes may not be up for their most challenging fight yet.

    Connor Jensen, a deaf AI developer, has been contracted out to a remote air force base in Alaska to repair one malfunctioning mech unit, designation 17AX. The mech is, honestly, nothing like Connor was expecting. Rash, brazen, foul-mouthed. And as 17 starts to push Connor's buttons and the human starts firing back, 17 seems increasingly entranced by him. In a military that regards 17 as a tool and Connor as a necessary inconvenience, perhaps it's no wonder that the pair forges a bond.

    17 has been fighting on and off the battlefield since he was created. But Connor's been fighting, too, against demons he refuses to name. It's often asked what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. But when an unstoppable human and an immovable mech band together, they might just be invincible.

    Chris Celn is fresh out of Chicago's police academy with an implant in the back of his neck designed for linking up with AI. And after losing his best friend and pilot to a mech fight 4 months before, nobody was expecting Hawker to do anything but beat the tar out of every new recruit that tested for compatibility with him. But Chris, a mysteriously talented mech jockey, finds himself approved to pilot the HLX-9 Vanguard, and as they train and grow together in the wake of loss and war in a city where crime never sleeps, things better left forgotten begin to surface again. Not to mention that somebody's trying to start a World War 4.
