Summary
At 43, James Barnes is a washed up old man. He’s got a dozen Grammys in the hall closet, an agent that can’t get him a deal, a decade-old case of writer’s block, a moody teen-aged daughter, and the gorgeous actress Natasha Romanova for an ex-wife. Well, one of them anyway. He’s a man who’s given up on finding joy in his life, and if it wasn’t for his kid, he’d have probably found a way to quit the world a long time ago.
Enter Steven Grant Rogers, struggling twenty-something, orphan, and someone who has no idea who Barnes is, other than some musician his mom liked a lot.
The two men meet by accident, doing nothing more than passing the time in a quiet bar. But when a pap gets a shot of the two men embracing, Bucky takes it as a chance to finally come out as bisexual, and his agent makes him a proposition: Ten new songs and one very sweet boyfriend will get him a new record deal that will maybe, just maybe put him back on top.Now all he has to do is write the songs, convince the kid, and not fall in love. Should be easy, right?

Summary
Steve is very rich and desperate to feel in control of his life again after a recent divorce has left him feeling bitter and lonely. When he keeps crossing paths with a disaster twenty-something, an unconventional solution presents itself. Steve's always been one for following his instincts.
Bucky is very broke and can't seem to catch a break, especially after some asshole fires him for one fucking mistake. So of course, it follows that he should sign a contract agreeing to do everything and anything that same asshole wants for a whole year in exchange for a payout that could finally change his life for the better.

Dr. James Buchanan Barnes is the newest assistant professor at Shield College, a small liberal arts school not terribly far from New York City. “Christ,” Steve says without thinking. Reaches out to touch the bruise on Bucky’s throat. “What’d she do, try and eat you alive?”
“Oh,” Bucky says, quiet, maybe a little embarrassed. “No, I mean—you know, it was just a little necking.”
“Right,” Steve agrees, “necking,” as if he’s ever done anything of the damn sort, and then notices another bruise, lower down, right on Bucky’s collarbone. If he squints he can make out the shape of her teeth, the way she’d set them into Bucky’s skin and bitten down, laid claim, and it makes Steve oddly furious, makes him want to hurt Bucky himself. He digs his thumb hard into the dark bruise on Bucky’s throat, scrapes his nail across Bucky’s skin, and it’s a step too far, he knows that, sorta expects Bucky to say hey, or maybe come on, Steve, what the hell.
He doesn’t expect the sound that comes out of Bucky’s mouth: a breathy little gasp that has Steve running hot in a second, and then it’s like the both of them are holding their breath, the air full of nothing but still dark heat and the summer storm still crackling outside.

Summary
Steve doesn't know who Bucky is, but rescues him from an Austrian HYDRA factory anyway.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Maybe some results are just inevitable.

Summary
When a Department X trigger leaves Bucky without memories of his former life—or anything at all, for that matter—Steve and Natasha have a tough call to make. Thus, James, bartender and cat-owner, who absolutely hasn't got a metal arm, and whose roommate totally isn't a secret agent, and whose blood-stained nightmares can't possibly be real, comes into being.
In retrospect, it never was the best-laid of plans.
James dreams, that night, of someone with a warm smile and blond hair, and he wakes up terribly lonely, to the sun shining bright through the curtains and the clock glowing half-past two.

Summary
The thing about Bucky these days is that, while he might be a semi-mythical assassin, he's also vulnerable—the kind of vulnerable that makes total strangers want to drape a blanket over his shoulders and take him to safety. The problem is, of course, that Bucky is already safe.
The first time it happens, Bucky has no idea how to react. He and Steve are walking down the street, when a slight woman takes in Bucky’s terrified eyes, the dark circles so bad they almost look like bruises, and Steve’s protective hand resting on his lower back, guiding him down the busy sidewalk (but it must look possessive, to someone looking for a sign), and comes to the wrong conclusion.
