At some point, the name Thorin Oakenshield had become synonymous with death and yet it would always pass him by.
There were few better in the world who knew how it felt to linger on when all others had gone. Such was not a curse gifted only to the elves, and the immortal kind.
In a shabbily raised tent on the wreckage of a battlefield Thorin had plagued upon his people, Thorin gasped and bled. He finally thought death would do the kindness of passing him by.
