Chuuya Nakahara is an exiled assassin with a limited time, he spends his days gathering money so he can die in relative peace, fortunately the price of killing people is high but the is consequences higher, so when a troublesome fox messes up his plans in order to solve a centuries-old conflict, he doesn't have a choice but to follow through.

Fair. Dazai smiles melancholically. If not for Mio, perhaps he never would have made it indeed. Wanting to die and ending up nurturing life is a strange plot-twist, to say the least.
From messy lovers in their early twenties to strangers, Dazai and Chuuya meet again at twenty-eight.
Or: Dazai is a dad — his daughter is his second chance at life, and perhaps he'll be so lucky to have a second chance at love too.

(slowest slow burn ever...with some angst...and heavy plot)
“Despite what you think, no, we aren’t going to charge you or send you to do our dirty work." Dazai lowered his voice before saying, “you think two Cabinet members would come all the way out to this part of the territory for something as small as that?”
Chuuya slammed his foot on the breaks and went incredibly still. Dazai had won.
He tried to keep the tremor out of his voice as he asked, “...Cabinet members? When Hawthorne called you Dazai he meant…”
Dazai’s mouth curved into a wicked grin that Chuuya caught in the rearview mirror.
“Dazai Osamu, at your service.”
