But this time—as he found himself almost tripping from the sharp turn his companions took into the nearby alleyway—it was abundantly clear that was not the case.

Fuyumi enters the entryway and pauses at the sight of Shouto slowly and carefully easing the door shut.
“Sho?” she says, forehead crinkling in confusion. “What are you doing h–”
She cuts off at Shouto’s sudden wince, her little brother gripping his head in pain almost as soon as she’d started speaking. She steps closer, worry and guilt taking over as she takes in every inch of him to catalogue what’s wrong.
Shouto lets out a breath and slowly straitens up. His hand drops from his face and he turns to face her barely an inch at a time like he’s trying not to jostle his head too much.
“Sho?” she breathes out again, this time her voice as soft and low as she can get it. “Are you okay?”
It’s a stupid question but thankfully Shouto takes the direction she’s offered and answers honestly instead of trying to feed her a bullshit “I’m fine” like Natsuo would.
“Hurts,” he grits out, forehead creasing again as he does.
