Buck chuckles. “How about you tell me your secret and then I’ll come over?”
Eddie’s heartbeat rises in his chest. “Do you promise?” he asks.
“Yes, Eddie, I promise. Scout’s honor, remember?” Buck says.
“Okay.” Eddie drunkenly giggles, then brings the phone up to his lips to whisper, “I’m gay.”
Buck is quiet on the other line. The room goes silent. Eddie slowly blinks his eyes open, squinting to find his screen black. He taps it, but it doesn’t turn on.
OR: Eddie sips a little too much of that go go juice and drunkenly comes out to Buck over the phone.
