Another time, the one with white hair and sunglasses indoors mentioned a "higher mission", and you’re 90% sure this is how cult documentaries start. One of your regulars only speaks in weird food-related phrases. You assume he has some kind of medical condition, but no one explains anything to you.
But you are not about to ask questions, because ignorance is bliss and also job security. And unfortunately, they are all weird and they seem very interested in coming back.

Some SIOCs get reborn as chosen ones and get the full Isekai experience with loving families and prophecies about saving the world. I got Crime Alley, a drug-addicted mother, useless piece of shit father, and Jason Todd as my baby brother.
Finding out that my junkie mum was actually disgraced Unseelie Fae nobility and I was a bit too much like her didn't make things better. If anything, it made them infinitely worse. Turns out, inheriting otherworldly nonsense powers doesn't mean getting a fairy tale ending when you're stuck in Gotham's most dangerous neighborhood with a baby to protect and bills that won't pay themselves.
Jason was the only good thing in this second life I never asked for. Everyone else, from two-bit dealers to the Dark Knight himself, could go to hell. So I did what any responsible older sister would do: I turned to crime.
If the universe wanted a Mary Sue, it seriously miscalculated.
