Summary
Sir Thomas had taken a step forward and before he knew it, Merlin was face first in the dirt, one arm twisted cruelly behind him and held down by a knee to the centre of his back. Merlin’s head was spinning, and his cheek—where it was shoved into the solid ground—was throbbing painfully. He swallowed thickly and held back the groan of pain that collected at the back of his throat.
“Haven’t you heard, mutt? Servants should be seen and not heard,” Sir Thomas whispered, lowering Merlin’s arm and placing it almost delicately on the ground. Merlin made a move to push himself up, but Thomas’ grip only tightened, holding Merlin’s arm flat on the ground, his knee still jammed into his back. “Now, I think I’m going to teach you a lesson. You’re going to learn to hold that tongue of yours before I cut it out myself, do I make myself clear?”

Summary
Merlin was a kind and gentle soul, sometimes too kind and too gentle for his own good. Or you know, his own wellbeing. Arthur on the other hand, well…there was a reason that Arthur’s manservant was considered off limits. Any who dared harm him was not long for Camelot (or this world for that matter).
Or the five people Merlin unintentionally gets exiled, and the one he gets exiled on purpose.

Summary
Merlin has magic,” Uther’s words hit Merlin like a ton of bricks, the spirit disappearing as if it was never there.
Merlin closes his eyes, letting out the breath he’s been holding. He feels his back hit the door behind him, holding himself up against it. He doesn’t look at Arthur, just waits.
One breath, two breath, three breath. Nothing.
Merlin opens his eyes, looking up, half expecting Arthur to have disappeared to alert the guards. Arthur is staring at him, he is stock skill, breath coming out ragged and uneven. He looks crushed and not just from expelling his father’s spirit but that must also have contributed to it.
“Arthur,” Merlin tries, swallowing when his voice shakes with the anticipation of Arthur’s reaction.
“Is it true?” Arthur asks, his voice quiet but stern, he still holds the horn tightly in his grip by his side, his knuckles white with the force.
“Arthur I-“
“Yes or no, Merlin,” Arthur interrupts, voice suddenly louder in the empty corridor, he looks Merlin in the eye while he nods wordlessly before looking away, “you-you do. You would betray me? You?”

Summary
When Merlin's magic is exposed shortly before season 2 starts, the path of destiny starts changing forever. Now on the run with Arthur, Morgana, and Gwen. Merlin hopes to convince Arthur that magic is totally good instead of him and Morgana just being an exception. Morgana, meanwhile, hopes to convince him to usurp his father. As allies are gathered and Arthur realizes the injustice in his kingdom, it looks more and more like he will have to act in a drastic way. A way he dreads.
Meanwhile, Arthur and Merlin are growing closer and closer and might just have feelings for each other. Something they probably should be better about realizing, considering the example of Gwen and Morgana right next to them.
In a land of myth and a time of magic, the destiny of a great kingdom now rests on the shoulders of four, their names: Merlin, Arthur, Guinevere, and Morgana
