Dear Dr. Caldwell:
We are writing in response to your inquiry of October 15th regarding our efforts to acquire a new subject for Ex13A; as you know, our current subjects are unintentionally conditioned to become extremely anxious once personnel interact with them.
The acquisition of a new locomotive through outright purchase or a bespoke build is no longer a viable option due to the current funding constraints. For the purpose of this expiriment, I suggest we turn to a local source- the NWR. Sir Topham Hatt currently has a surplus of living locomotives, and he is willing to loan to one of his engines to us.

Orion Pax looks at him. He looks at him with those clear, energon-blue optics; optics he’s been watching for as long as he’s known him. He knows it too, that this is no imposter—someone wearing the plating of Orion Pax, his colors, his spark. But he still feels that angry slithering something in his tanks, that balks at the other mech.
Orion Pax sighs. “I really don’t want to, Megatron,” he says bluntly.
Megatron swallows down a lump in his throat. “Oh,” he says faintly. “Alright.”

She knows she is not right. She does not possess the same gentleness that Jawbreaker does even at his most destructive, nor does she have the same easygoing, self-entertained personality of Nightshade or Thrash. Her problems are not some endearing quirk the same way Twitch’s stubbornness or Hashtag’s hyperactivity is. No, Spitfire’s problems are violence and anger that too often end with something on fire, or someone with dents on their plating, and her parents looking at her with fear and impatience in their eyes.
Spitfire is the cuckoo in the nest, and she knows it. She does not belong.
