It stings.
Is all Dazai can think, the warm blood trickling down his arm contrasting the cold harsh floor of his bathroom. His fingers twitch as he tries to see if his arm is still capable of feeling other than pain. Discovering that it was not, he lifted his head back up against the wall, letting out a wet, broken laugh. Knowing that if he continued to look at his wounds he would eventually come to the decision to call for help, because he can’t do anything fucking right. He focused his sights on the little window he had above his shower, the only source of light being the glow from the moon. His vision growing spotty and darkening from the loss of blood and amount of pain pills and various other medications he downed before slitting his wrists getting to him.

Atsushi shut the door behind him, putting all his weight on the door to avoid falling and took a deep breath. Ignoring the blood slowly pooling at the bottom of his feet he limped his way over to his futon, feeling his way there and leaning against anything he could as to not slip. After what seemed like forever he made it to his bedroom, the moonlight seeping through the curtains illuminating the room giving it a heavenly glow. Finally collapsing onto his bed he let out a long sigh of relief.

Atsushi groaned, pushing his head harder into the pillow trying to suppress the hunger.
“I’ll eat when I wake up..s’ fine”
His voice, muffled, yet breaking the silence of the nearly empty apartment. Before he quickly dozed off into a deep sleep.

Dazai’s mouth opened, then closed again. He hadn’t thought that far.
Because you look uncomfortable. Because I don’t know how to help. Because I keep wanting to touch you and I don’t know where that impulse is coming from.
None of those felt safe to say.
“So Chuuya will stop being miserable,” Dazai said instead, defaulting to insult as camouflage.
Chuuya snorted. “You’re one to talk.”
Dazai glanced down. “I’m always miserable. It’s different.”
or: when chuuya doesn’t show up for a mission, dazai goes looking for him and does what he does best: pokes, prods, and pushes. but chuuya doesn’t need a fight, and dazai is left with the harsh reality that his confusing, inconvenient feelings don’t come with an instruction manual.

“And,” Dazai added, “For making architects cry in the meeting rooms.”
Great, Atsushi thought. First big project, and I get the guy who eats architects for breakfast.

It hurts to have to think all the time, to aid in fixing everyone’s problems, to solve everything.
He finds solace in submission. He feels floaty and loved and feels emotions he can’t truly have brought out of him otherwise.
And Chuuya? He loves it.
Chuuya adores Dazai when he’s in that state, all pathetic like a pet that needs direction, praise, and punishment. He finds the fact that he looks for validation in Chuuya to be the cutest thing.
Or
Dazai has been having shitty and exhausting work days so he finally comes to Chuuya to help empty his mind.
