Summary
When our lips met, it seemed less of a decision and more of an inevitably that we had been barreling towards since the first moment we saw each other. Afterwards I was never sure which one of us closed the final gap; perhaps we both did at the same moment. That would certainly explain why, instead of being a perfect first kiss like in films, my nose awkwardly smashed against Lockwood’s, just before our teeth knocked together.

“You need to sleep,” he says.
Lucy says, almost without thinking, “I don’t want to.”
Because she doesn’t. Because sleeping means dreaming and Lockwood knows exactly what dreaming entails right now. And then there’s the cold, which still hasn’t retreated, even with the cape and the tea and Lockwood’s arm pressed in a warm line along her own while they drank it.
He doesn’t answer, just takes her by the hand and leads her from the kitchen, flicking off the lights as they go. And she lets him, because she’s tired and aching, and because it’s Lockwood doing it.
(or, recovering from walking in the land of the dead isn't easy, but lockwood and lucy are giving it their best shot.)

A person. A girl. Wide, made-up eyes stared back at me, set in a cute, freckled face, and attached to a throat I was currently pointing my rapier at.
Or, alternatively, the client’s daughter flirts with Lockwood, is a massive nuisance, and Lucy gets jealous, among other things.
