“Uh,” Eddie says. “Hey Wheeler.”
“I’m leaving Hawkins at the end of the summer,” she says fiercely. “And I’m not coming back.”
“Oh,” Eddie clears his throat. “Good for you.” It’s a very popular sentiment around town these days, personally Eddie thinks it should be put into practice across the board.
“You’re coming with me,” Nancy says, in a tone that doesn’t really invite discussion or argument.
“Um. Okay?”
Seriously? That’s all you got, man? But before Eddie can get through fully kicking his own ass for that weak response, Wheeler’s giving him a tight nod and a flash of a satisfied smile, before getting back in the car and onto the road without so much as another word or glance at him.

Summary
There’s something about watching Steve and Eddie that makes his chest ache, just a little bit. Something that feels like it’s just out of reach, like if he could just jump an inch higher he could grasp it and know what it is, have a name for it, figure out what feels like it’s missing with Max. He never felt like something was missing with Max before. She was perfect. She is perfect! Like, sure, not actually perfect, because nobody’s actually perfect, but she’s perfect for him just like he hopes he’s perfect for her, and they’re perfect together.
Maybe Lucas is overcompensating.

It was at this point that Mike started to be able to see bones; he noticed with horror that they were nearly the same color as the man’s teeth, which had been exposed when one of the dogs impulsively tore a chunk out of the side of the man’s face.
“Wheeler.”
There was blood everywhere, and Mike hyper-focused on the streaky red and orange patterns their feet were making in the linoleum of the hallway. He briefly wondered if—
“MIKE!”
He flinched then, hard, and found himself thrown back into the present with violent force, “What, Hopper?!” Mike snapped as the chip shelf to his right came back into focus.“You still with us, kid?”

Summary
On a dreary day in March, 1989 the population of Hawkins, Indiana dropped to four. Will Byers watched as the final family left, the bed of their truck packed to the brim and tied down with a tarp. Furniture stuck out at odd angles, and the corner flap flailed in the breeze as they turned onto the highway. Will followed the vehicle with his eyes until it disappeared as a dot on the long stretch of pavement. Then, he got in his car and went home.
Or, Will is burning out, and Mike is mesmerized by the flame.
