Summary
Todd Anderson had been entirely exhausted as of late. His new apartment in New York City was so large that it felt empty. The emptiness of things had been following him like a leech for the past few years. Ever since he had graduated from Welton, his life hadn’t had a great, drastic change. He lived in a place by himself, worked by himself, and took himself to most places alone. It was a lonely existence. He didn’t even have a cat to share it with.
He had spent his senior year holed up in a room with a roommate he didn’t particularly like or know, some stiff who had admonished Mr. Keating’s teaching methods. Todd was silent; just sitting idly, biding his time until he could leave the restraints of the school for forever. Charlie had gone and got himself expelled, Neil had been sent away to military school, and Knox, Meeks, Pitts, and himself had spent the better half of the year trying to mend their broken hearts.
Or: Todd is having a grand party at his place to celebrate his writing accomplishments. His friends all come to visit, as does a new guest that Todd hasn't seen in a number of years.

Summary
Neil and Todd have been beating around the bush for too long. They said the words. Words that they'd never heard their parents say to each other, but words that were around them all their lives. They were monumental. Life changing. And with everything that happened after that winter, they need to talk about them.

Summary
It’s nine o’clock on a Saturday. Neil Perry is playing piano at the bar.
This is a common occurrence. The Poet's Cave is Neil's favorite bar to go to. All his friends are there, and he gets to spend most evenings playing the dusty piano in the corner. Everybody knew him, even if they'd never been introduced.
One evening, a new patron walks through the door. His beauty catches Neil's eye in an instant. Lucky for Neil, the new patron has taken a liking to his piano playing.
Or; Neil plays the piano, and Todd is a struggling writer. Their paths cross in the dim light of a bar.
