    An Absurdism/Dollyverse AU.

What if our favourite closeted bisexual, David Nelson, hadn’t grown up into the self-assured mature adult of Absurdism – just stayed the exact same homophobic, malicious douchebro of canon – but still ran into the business end of our hero, the best snarky twenty-one-year-old bisexual brat ever, Olly Spring?

    Summary

Over the last nearly four years, Alphas Charlie Spring and Nicholas Nelson have been engaged in an academic rivalry at Valor University, an esteemed Ivy League institution in Massachusetts, USA. Despite each garnering considerable respect—Nick for his rugby prowess and Charlie for his excellence in mathletics— as far as Charlie is concerned, them being at the top of their class and being british are the only common traits they share.

However, the thing about Charlie is that he's not actually an Alpha—he's an Omega in hiding. Although Valor University now admits Omegas and Betas, Charlie finds himself being the sole Omega on campus and has successfully maintained his Alpha facade for the past three years. That is, until their professor mandates Charlie to be partnered with Nick, the Alpha he dislikes the most—and, unfortunately, is irresistibly drawn to—during the first semester of their senior year. With his proficiency in equations, Charlie anticipates that this situation is a recipe for disaster. For the first time since they've met, he and Nick finally agree on something.

But hey, it’s only for one semester. What could go wrong?

    Summary

At the sight of freckled cheekbones and amber eyes, Charlie is suddenly transported back to over a decade prior. To the first meeting of a boy with a kind smile and sweet disposition in his form.

“Hi,” Charlie had said as he took his newly assigned seat.

“Hi,” the boy said back, a wary look almost passing his features before it quickly transformed into a polite grin.

Charlie never forgot the butterflies that swarmed his stomach that day.

Those same butterflies come storming back now so fiercely that he nearly keels over from the nausea of it. The jolt of panic, fear, and a little bit of something else that he can’t quite name, hitting him all at once.

Nicholas Nelson, the first boy Charlie ever loved, is standing in his bookshop.

    Summary

“What do you know about Nick Nelson?”

Charlie freezes, certain that he’s hallucinating. “Er, sorry?”

“Nick Nelson.” Mr. Farouk turns the screen of his desktop so Charlie can catch a glimpse of the photo he’s pulled up.

Nick Nelson stares back at him, his beaming face red and sweaty and covered in streaks of mud. He is also, most notably, hoisting up last year’s rugby league Challenge Cup trophy in his arms, balanced precariously on his team’s shoulders after an astonishing win by the Leeds Rhinos he’d undoubtedly contributed to.

    Charlie begins to feel faint.

Or: In which Charlie and Nick become nothing more than acquaintances back in Truham, instead crossing paths again in their adulthood as a budding journalist tasked with writing a feature on a rising rugby star.
